CHIVIDO 24

THE ENDURANCE OF LOVE. 

In case you probably live under a rock and you have no idea what CHIVIDO means (or maybe you live on a less open side of the rock), it's an acronym for Chioma and Davido or in a more formal manner, Chioma Rowland and David Adeleke. 
 
Now, why on earth would the names of two personalities be coined together to form one word? Well, it's safe to say that CHIVIDO is an acronym for the tying of the marital knot between Chioma Rowland and David Adeleke. A.K.A Chioma and Davido Adeleke or Mr and Mrs Adeleke. 

They made their union official to the world on the 25th of June 2024, bringing all the precious celebrity marriages before them to shame, and this is not an exaggeration. From the high dignitaries in attendance to the extravagant decor and propaganda the wedding brought about, Nigeria and beyond still have not recovered from this joining together of husband and wife. 

Even the popular rapper and singer, Nicki Minaj gave CHIVIDO a shout out before performing st one of her concerts. That was how great the news of CHIVIDO spread around the world. Even on more private social media platforms like Whatsapp, every status update contained at least one photo of the couple's pre-wedding shoot. 
At some point, it felt like the whole country was going to attend the wedding. I mean, when there's a will, there's a way, right? But sadly with our wills, the only way we could "attend" the wedding was through social media. (Any way is a way, right?) 

So why are people so pumped about a celebrity wedding? I mean, Davido wasn't the first musician to get married nor was he the first of his kind to have an extravagant wedding but what makes CHIVIDO so special and amazing is the dramatic and unique love story that rolled for almost a decade between Chioma and Davido. 

Let's have a flashback to Babcock University of Ogun State, 2013, bustling with life, authenticity, riches and folks trying to dig deeper into the wells of knowledge. The "Assurance" crooner was pursuing a degree in Music but it seems like he started to pursue something (or rather someone) else, and that was Chioma Rowland, who was also an Economics student at the time. 

Their friendship buzzed off to a good start even before Davido became Davido and as time went on, the once platonic duo sparked off to something more two years later. What a romantic beginning! An aspiring musician with the woman of the dreams by his side but as we said before, this was just the beginning. 
Fast forward to 2018, Davido now bustling and soaring on the highways of fame made Chioma official to the world by making her the female lead in his hit song, "Assurance". Of course, that song was famous not only for it's musical talent but for the fact that Davido hard launched his lady and this made the fans of Davido as well as the whole world go crazy. 

And to add the icing on the cake, Davido not only wrote and produced "Assurance" for the renowned ChefChi -although she wasn't a known chef as at then- he formally brought her on stage and introduced her to his fans during one of his concerts that same year. What a way to tell the world that you've not only fallen but crashed and injured yourself in love. 

And another fast forward to September of 2019 Davido officially proposed to Chioma and on October 20th of that same year, they had their first child; Ifeanyi Adeleke. The wedding plans were made for the following year but as we all remember - and this is not something we read in history books but experienced ourselves - COVID 19 came like a storm and threw the entire planet upside down, including the nuptial plans of Davido and Chioma. 
Sadly, Ifeanyi passed away in October of 2022 - he died due to drowning in his father's swimming pool - and it was a huge loss for the couple and most people concluded that since the couple were not officially married, they would split up from then on but to everyone's surprise, Davido paid Chioma's bride price barely a week after Ifeanyi's death - November 2022 -  in a private customary wedding that was made known to the public in March 2023. 
Now, the weight of their son's death was greatly felt as even OBO himself left the musical scene for months in a bid of recovery. Few months later, Davido and Chioma truly lived out the scripture that said, "For your shame, ye shall have double" and in October of 2023, CHIVIDO welcomed twins, in the same month that Ifeanyi was born in and died. Many congratulated the couple for their amazing blessings. 

But alas, every story has to have some sort of advertisy. A relationship of up to ten years is bound to be shaky and have clashes at some point. From all the scandals that Davido got himself into to all the times he allegedly "cheated" on her and even times when Chioma herself was rumoured to see other guys, most people expected the couple to break up, BUT they stood strong, handled their issues and kept moving on. 

At a point, rumors spread online that Chioma was a victim of domestic violence in the hands of our star musician, but she vehemently cleared the air and made sure to stomp her foot down as to the fact that no such thing occurred and that she knows her worth and she is happy in her relationship with David. 

After all and sundry, the couple stormed the world with the final confirmation of their marital bliss and that is CHIVIDO 2024. The wedding that has influencers from all spheres of the world in attendance. 

Was it football? Victor Osimhen and Jay Jay Okocha had us covered. Was it politics? The likes of Olusegun Obasanjo, Udom Emmanuel, Seyi Tinubu did not fail to represent us. Was it Television personalities? Ebuka Obi-Uchendu couldn't give us enough. Business Billionaires and entrepreneurs? Obi-Cubana, Cubana Chief Priest, E-money all marked their names on the attendance list. And down to music, of course we can't begin to count the numerous musicians(whether Old school tunes or New Gen Afrobeatz) From P-Square, Pantoranking and Olamide to Zlatan, Kcee, Chike and even actresses like Ini Edo and Iyabo Ojo represented Nollywood at CHIVIDO 2024. 

To say the least, the wedding was extravagant and massive, packed to the brim with friends, family, fans and people from all sorts and fields of life. But the extravagance of the wedding isn't what matters most, rather it's the love that binds them both together. With their unique and unending chemistry that has warmed the hearts of many over the years. 

Chioma and Davido stand as a testament that if you really love someone, you'll stay with them no matter what. Many people wouldn't have been able to stay for so long with all that they went through but Chioma and Davido stood the tests of time and drew a pattern of love that would be forever recognized by Nigerians and all around the globe. 

Who says true love doesn't exist? Well it does because only true love can birth something as beautiful as the love story of Mr and Mrs Adeleke. And from their humble beginnings in Babcock University, they are now here taking the global world by storm. For Davido, his music forever remains legendary to generations to come and For Chioma, her culinary skills have made her stand out and will forever embalm the name, "ChefChi" not only on the Internet but on the hearts of all. 

So what really is love? Love is what Davido and Chioma did to stick together in their decade long romance. Love is what Davido showed to Chioma and what Chioma showered on Davido. Love is the endurance they both faced when things were rocky. Love is the comfort they gave each other when Ifeanyi unfortunately passed away. Love is the encouragement they gave (and still give each other) to do better and be better in their various endeavours. 

Love is the joy they had in their hearts when they welcomed their twins. Love is what people think of whenever they remember the story of Chioma and Davido. Love is their sacrifice for each other. Love is their endurance. Love is their joy and happiness. Love is their sorrows shared together, Love is their commitment, Love is their willingness to make it work, Love is their ability to shun out the the hurtful words and curses of others and bank on the peace they gave themselves. 

Love is Davido always protecting Chioma and being her hype man. Love is Chioma never leaving Davido's side and always uplifting him in every and all situations. Love is how they complement each other and not destroy each other. Love is them accepting each other's flaws and working on them and each other rather than resulting to abandonment or neglect. 

This and more is what Love is according to CHIVIDO 2024.
